We believe that the ultimate pass/fail exam for job readiness is the job interview.
Any internal pass/fail exam that would act as a proxy to the job interview would be imperfect. It would mean that developers would probably prioritise that exam over preparing for a job interview.
This is what happens with traditional forms of schooling - which are then criticised for not adequately preparing developers for the world of work. Choosing to focus on employability (over an exam) means that we take into account how developers actually fare on the job market.
In order to get developers to be job-ready, we simulate the work environment (for example, by putting developers into teams and getting them to create projects with little coach supervision).
