How are apprentices assessed during the programme?

Learn how apprentices are assessed during a Makers programme, including ongoing feedback, project work and the final End-Point Assessment.

Assessment is built into the apprenticeship throughout the programme. Apprentices demonstrate their progress through practical work, projects and structured learning activities.

This approach helps ensure learners are developing the skills needed to perform confidently in their role.

Ongoing learning and feedback

During the programme, apprentices receive regular feedback from placement coaches and their employer as they develop their technical and professional skills.

This may include:

  • Completing projects or technical exercises

  • Demonstrating skills through practical work

  • Receiving feedback on progress and development

These activities help apprentices build confidence and prepare for the final stage of the programme.

End-Point Assessment

At the end of the apprenticeship, learners complete an End-Point Assessment (EPA).

This is a final assessment carried out by an independent organisation to confirm that the apprentice has met the required industry standard for their role.

The End-Point Assessment may include a combination of activities such as a project, professional discussion or technical evaluation.
