How are learners assessed throughout the programme?

Find out how learners are assessed during a Makers apprenticeship through practical work, progress reviews and the final End-Point Assessment.

Assessment is built into the apprenticeship programme to ensure learners are developing the skills required for their role.

Throughout the programme, learners demonstrate their progress through practical work, projects and structured learning activities linked to the apprenticeship standard.

This approach helps ensure learners are developing capabilities that can be applied directly in the workplace.

Ongoing assessment and feedback

During the programme, learners receive regular feedback from Makers coaches and their employer as they develop their skills.

Assessment may include:

  • Practical projects and exercises

  • Demonstrating new skills in workplace tasks

  • Progress reviews with their line manager and coach

These activities help learners build confidence and prepare for the final stage of the programme.

End-Point Assessment

At the end of the apprenticeship, learners complete an End-Point Assessment (EPA).

This is a final assessment carried out by an independent organisation to confirm that the apprentice has met the required industry standard for their role.

The EPA may include elements such as:

  • A practical project

  • A professional discussion

  • Technical or knowledge assessments

Successfully completing the EPA leads to the award of the apprenticeship qualification.
