What does day-to-day learning look like?

Find out what a typical learning day looks like on a Makers programme, including practical coding exercises, collaboration with other learners and support from experienced coaches.

Learning at Makers is designed to reflect the way modern technology teams work. Rather than focusing only on lectures or theory, learners spend most of their time solving practical problems, building projects and collaborating with others.

Programmes combine structured teaching, hands-on exercises and real-world project work.

Learning through practical work

A typical learning day may include:

  • Writing and testing code

  • Working on technical challenges or projects

  • Pair programming or collaborating with other learners

  • Reviewing work and receiving feedback

This approach helps learners build both technical skills and the confidence to apply them in real working environments.

Working with others

Collaboration is an important part of the learning experience. Learners often work in pairs or small teams to solve problems and complete projects.

This reflects the way many engineering teams operate and helps develop communication and teamwork skills alongside technical ability.

Ongoing support and feedback

Throughout the programme, learners receive support from coaches and the wider Makers team. Feedback and coaching are designed to help learners improve their skills and continue progressing throughout the programme.
