Who can apply to Makers programmes?

Makers programmes are open to people from a wide range of backgrounds. Many learners join without a traditional technology background and are looking to start or progress a career in the tech industry.

Apprenticeships

To apply for a Makers apprenticeship you typically need to:

• Be aged 16 or over

• Have the right to work in the UK

• Be living in England for the duration of the programme

• Meet the entry requirements set by the employer offering the role

Apprenticeships are real jobs, so employers may also look for qualities such as problem solving, communication and teamwork.

Bootcamp

Bootcamp applicants do not need to have previous professional experience in technology.

However, the programme is intensive, so it’s important that applicants are prepared to commit to a full-time learning experience and are motivated to build a career in software engineering.

Do I need a technical background?

No. Many people who join Makers programmes are career changers coming from fields such as education, retail, hospitality, finance or the public sector.
