An apprenticeship is a real job that provides you with government-funded training, industry-recognised qualifications and a salary from day one. It’s a great way to launch a new career and stay debt free in the process. At Makers, we offer Level 4 Apprenticeships in Software Engineering, Data Analytics (with Engineering), Cloud (DevOps) Engineering and DevOps.
An apprenticeship typically lasts between 18–22 months with the majority of apprentices having a permanent role waiting for them at the same company at the end of the programme.
At the end of the apprenticeship, you’ll have an assessment to check you can confidently perform your role. If you pass, you’ll be awarded an industry recognised qualification.
Despite the perception that apprenticeships are for school leavers, there's no upper age limit. Apprenticeships are relevant to anyone wishing to embark on a career in tech especially career switchers.
Entry Requirements
Apprenticeships are government-funded, so there are a few eligibility criteria you will need to meet to be accepted on an apprenticeship:
ou are eligible for an apprenticeship if you:
- Are 16 or over.
- Live in England.
- Are no longer in full-time education.
- Hold english at a first or second language standard.
- If you don’t already have GCSEs in English and Maths at grade C or 4 or above, you will need to take Functional Skills as part of the apprenticeship, which is an alternative to GCSEs.
- Do not hold a degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science.
